What is a Canada Atlantic Immigration Pilot?

The Canada Atlantic Immigration Pilot is a collaborative effort between the federal government of Canada and the four Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. This pilot program aims to address labor market challenges and demographic changes in the Atlantic region by attracting and retaining skilled workers from overseas.

How does the AIP work?

The AIP operates by connecting employers in the Atlantic provinces with eligible foreign workers who possess the skills and experience required to meet local labor market needs. Employers play a crucial role in the program by working closely with designated organizations in their province to identify and recruit potential candidates.

The AIP offers three different categories through which individuals can apply:

  1. Atlantic High-Skilled Program: This category is intended for individuals with a qualifying job offer from an employer in one of the Atlantic provinces. The job offer must be skill level 0, A, or B according to the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
  2. Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program: This category targets individuals with a qualifying job offer from an employer in one of the Atlantic provinces. The job offer must be skill level C according to the NOC.
  3. Atlantic International Graduate Program: This category is designed for recent international graduates from eligible institutions in one of the Atlantic provinces. To be eligible, graduates must have a qualifying job offer for a skill level 0, A, B, or C position.
