British Columbia
ABOUT THE BC PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is an immigration initiative designed by the government of British Columbia in partnership with the Canadian federal government. It aims to attract skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and international graduates who can contribute to the province’s economic growth and meet its labor market needs.
The BC PNP offers several streams or categories under which individuals can apply for nomination:
- Skills Immigration (SI): This category is designed for skilled and semi-skilled workers in high-demand occupations. It includes sub-categories such as Skilled Worker, Healthcare Professional, International Graduate, International Post-Graduate, and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled.
- Express Entry BC (EEBC): This stream is aligned with the federal Express Entry system, which manages applications for permanent residency through three main economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. Eligible candidates with a valid Express Entry profile can receive additional points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and an invitation to apply for nomination.
- Entrepreneur Immigration (EI): This category is suitable for experienced entrepreneurs who are ready to invest in and actively manage a business in British Columbia. It consists of two sub-categories: Regional Pilot and Base.
- Tech Pilot: The Tech Pilot stream is designed to attract foreign tech workers with job offers in eligible tech occupations. It provides faster processing times and dedicated support to help tech professionals navigate the immigration process.
Each category has specific criteria and requirements that applicants must meet, such as work experience, education, language proficiency, and adaptability factors. Successful applicants who receive a nomination from British Columbia can then apply for permanent residence to the federal government through the appropriate immigration program.
